One of the biggest stories heading into the 2023 NFL season is Aaron Rodgers and whether he can bounce back from a down year with his new team, the New York Jets.
Expectations are high for the star quarterback and his new team, who are looking to make the Super Bowl for the first time since 1969.
Count Tom Brady as someone who is buying into the hype. The former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers star knows a thing or two about winning, taking home six Super Bowls during his career.
Brady confident Rodgers will succeed
Now retired after hanging up his cleats after last season, Brady believes Rodgers will do well in his new home.
“It’s like you go through a lot of years at one place and there’s a lot of, I would say, mental scar tissue, from losses or relationships or certain experiences. ‘Oh, this guy had said this once,’ or ‘that teammate,’ or ‘this coach or that general manager.’ Now you go to a new place and you have none of that,” said Brady as per ESPN’s Jenna Laine.
“So now you can just hopefully bring your best knowing that you probably didn’t do everything right where you were, but you tried your best. And now you get to go to a new place with a different type of emotional energy.
“And I’m excited for him. He’ll be invigorated. … Aaron’s been, when he’s got good receivers, man, it’s pretty dangerous. … I think he’s gonna have a great year.”
Time will tell whether Rodgers can live up to the hype, though fans and pundits won’t have to wait long to see the QB in action. That’s because the New York Jets open their season at home to the Buffalo Bills in the first Monday Night Football game of the season on September 11.
