The Pittsburgh Steelers had quite the flight home from Las Vegas, with TJ Watt now shedding light on what exactly happened.
The NFL team was forced to make an emergency landing in Kansas City at around 05:00 following their Sunday night victory over the Las Vegas Raiders.
Watt appeared on The Pat McAfee Show on Friday and explained what took place, including whether he was scared.
“Yeah,” he admitted, during his appearance.
“Hearing ‘Code Yellow; flight attendants you have prepared for this’, everyone’s grabbing their seatbelts, isn’t a fun feeling.”
How TJ Watt remained calm
Watt also explained what he did to try and calm his nerves despite the chaos that was happening around him.
“I do have to admit it, I got some comfort in knowing I was on the flight with our team owner and a bunch of other multi-millionaires, so I knew they’d hopefully take every precaution known to man to get us down safely,” Watt stated.
In the end the plane landed safely, though the Steelers were forced to spend several hours in Kansas City. Watt revealed what he and his teammates did to pass the time.
“Once we were down, we were in Kansas City on the airplane for five hours,” Watt said.
“So there was a lot of Dunkin’ Donuts being passed around, a lot of breakfast pizza. Nothing nutritious, nobody slept, but we overcame the adversity and here we are.”
Now safely back in Pittsburgh, the Steelers will look to continue their winning ways when they host the Houston Texans on Sunday.
