Bill Belichick’s emotional farewell to Patriot fans: “I’ll always be a patriot”M.C.

“I think what is possible, if Bill (Belichick) doesn’t go the Falcons, is he just takes one year off,” Kimes said. “I don’t think he’s done coaching, but I could see him taking a year off.”

Kimes mentioned how Belichick wanting to take on general manager duties, plus bring in his own coaching staff, including Matt Patricia and Josh McDaniels, is a turnoff for teams.

Cowboys, Eagles, Bills jobs could open after next season

A few interesting options for Belichick would have been the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills, but they all decided to stick with their respective head coaches.

If Mike McCarthy, Nick Sirianni and Sean McDermott don’t improve next season, then Belichick could be their go-to option for a “win now” hire.

Belichick, 71, probably needs about three more winning seasons to pass Don Shula in all-time head coach victories, but will need to relinquish some control to land the right job.
