Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett wasted no time to start toying with Joe Burrow and his offensive line during Sunday’s 24-3 home win over the Cincinnati Bengals. He maintained the same dominance from wire to wire.
Garrett, 27, was taunting the Bengals center just a couple minutes into the game by mimicking a basketball crossover move reminiscent of what the legendary NBA star Allen Iverson would do to his opponents. While he didn’t get the sack, the pressure was enough to make Burrow move forward for another Browns defender to stop him.
Myles Garrett suffers a sprain, police footage shows him dazed following his car crash
Burrow, 26, only threw for 82 yards on 14-for-31 completed passes. The heavy rain, plus the fact that he is rusty, had a lot to do with his poor performance, but Garrett was also relentless.
Garrett was pressuring Burrow from the opening minutes with the crossover move until the start of the fourth quarter when he recorded his first sack of the night with Cleveland already leading Cincinnati 16-3.
The Browns DE is known for his love of basketball and plays the sport during the NFL offseason. He has even participated in the NBA Celebrity All-Star Game. Garrett is now taking those moves to the field and it’s seemingly working wonders.
Has Myles Garrett won a DPOY?
Garrett is one of the best defensive players at his position across the entire league, but he has never won the Defensive Player of the Year award.
His performance against the weak Bengals O-line should be taken with a grain of salt, but this could be Garrett’s DPOY year.
Bengals tackle Orlando Brown even started trending due to Garrett exposing his lack of speed when rushing from the edge.
Browns visit the Pittsburgh Steelers for the next Monday Night Football in what will surely be another great performance by Garrett.
