The Ravens got terrible news during the 3rd quarter of their season opener against the Texans.
Running back J.K. Dobbins has suffered a torn Achilles and will undergo an MRI to determine the extent of the injury according to Ian Rappaport and Tom Pelissero.
The 24-year-old couldn’t put any weight on his foot as he headed to the locker room after exiting the game.
Dobbins injured his ankle when the Ravens were leading the Texans 6-7 at the start of the second half of the game in the 10th-minute mark of the 3rd quarter.
The running back had scored the first touchdown of the game for the Ravens in the first quarter on a four-yard run.
His total for the day was 8 carries for 22 yards.
After the game, which the Ravens won 9-25, head coach, John Harbaugh, confirmed the devastating news.
It is now expected that the team will place Dobbins in the injured reserved list and he will miss the rest of the season.
The average recovery time for a torn Achilles injury is between 6-9 months.
As mentioned earlier, Dobbins is entering the final year of his rookie contract so this injury will be a major setback on his hope of securing a lucrative contract in 2024. His base salary for 2023 is estimated to be around $1.4 million dollars.
