Buffalo Wing Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup hot sauce (use your favorite brand and adjust quantity based on your heat preference). We used Pete's Hot Sauce!
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Melt the Butter: In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter completely. Make sure not to let it brown or burn.
  2. Add Garlic: Once the butter is melted, add the minced garlic to the saucepan. Sauté for about a minute until the garlic becomes fragrant and slightly softened.
  3. Incorporate Spices: Add the onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper to the butter mixture. Stir well to combine, allowing the spices to infuse into the butter.
  4. Hot Sauce Addition: Pour in the hot sauce of your choice. You can start with a smaller amount and gradually add more if you prefer a milder sauce. Stir to combine all the ingredients.
  5. Simmer and Blend: Let the sauce simmer over low heat for about 5-10 minutes. This helps meld the flavors together. If you want a smoother consistency, you can use an immersion blender to blend the sauce until it's smooth. Alternatively, you can leave it slightly chunky for more texture.
  6. Adjust Seasoning: Taste the sauce and add salt as needed. Keep in mind that some hot sauces might already be quite salty, so adjust accordingly.
  7. Cool and Store: Once the sauce reaches your desired consistency and flavor, remove it from the heat and let it cool down a bit. Transfer the sauce to a jar or airtight container. It can be stored in the refrigerator for a couple of weeks.
  8. Coat Your Wings: When ready to use, simply toss your cooked and fried chicken wings in the buttered hot sauce. You can do this in a large bowl, making sure each wing is well-coated.
  9. Serve and Enjoy: Serve your buffalo wings with your favorite dipping sauces, celery sticks, and carrot sticks. The creamy buttered hot sauce will add a rich and spicy kick to your wings.
