When the Cincinnati Bengals took a nosedive in the power rankings over the first two weeks of the season, it came with a catch — Joe Burrow and Co. would rocket right back up the rankings if they won a few.
The possible big climb back up has started after Monday’s win over the Los Angeles Rams, with USA Today’s Nate Davis shooting the Bengals up nearly into the top 10:
11. Bengals (17): Wasn’t pretty for injured QB Joe Burrow (calf) on Monday night, but Cincinnati secured a desperately needed victory in its bid to reach the playoffs in successive seasons despite starting 0-2.
This is a good sign for Bengals fans who care about these sorts of rankings — a sloppy win with a hobbled quarterback didn’t result in power rankings taking a wait-and-see-approach on their team.
If all goes according to plan, which would mean Burrow keeps getting healthier while the team keeps winning games, it’s not hard to see the Bengals climbing back into the top five soon.
